Glitter Free Alongside Ship I Sometimes wonder how much a band's name really contributes to the overall appeal of its music. I use to think than an awkward name could really break a band, but try telling this to Shitting Glitter. They have released their follow up to Sexy Clown Circus, and are once again shaking things up with their political stance and heavy beat sound. In Free Alongside Ship, glam rock collides into new wave, and I do mean collides. It's pure unadulterated ear candy with a political message that does more than just bitch. The album is comprised of that old school electro sound with new wave, synth and a dash of punk. The frequencies tend to shift from high to low, giving Shitting Glitter a playful sound that always seems to evolve from one style to the next. In effect, with a funked up look and a wild go-go dancer, Shitting Glitter is taking their musical influences and jumbling them up for a sound unique to a style they call their own. Whether you think you're listening to synth or country, punk or pop and whether you think this band comes off as shit or shines like glitter, one thing if for sure, this band is certain to get things moving.
